The History of DryWorx Crawlspace & Basement Solutions in Denver, Charlotte, & Lake Norman, NC

When was the very last time you went into, or even considered going into, the crawl space beneath your house or office? Jason Lott and Luke Dodge don't blame you if it's been a while – or even never. They are aware of how unattractive the room may be: dark, damp, cramped, cobweb-filled, and exposed to dirt.

Yet, Lincoln Charter School graduates understand the importance of crawl spaces to the health, upkeep, and lifespan of your property. That is why they created DryWorx LLC, a new company offering a wide range of crawl space and basement waterproofing services, as well as assured transparency to homeowners and landowners in Lake Norman, Denver, and beyond. DryWorx Crawlspace & Basement Solutions has established the local industry benchmark for waterproofing and structural repair services for consumers all across the Greater Charlotte, NC, area since we first opened our doors.

"Nobody is interested in messing with a crawl space," Lott jokes. "I always tell folks that." Nonetheless, it is among the most crucial aspects of a home. That is the base, and when dampness gets a hold of it, it utterly ruins it. A suitably waterproofed crawl space is required."

DryWorx specializes in crawl space encapsulation: Essentially, a plastic shield is applied to the entire region, preventing natural rainwater and moisture from destroying your wooden foundational pillars and insulating them from a variety of costly difficulties such as rotting wood, mold and mildew, fungus, and termites. But Lott and Dodge also take pleasure in their versatility: during DryWorx's initial year of operations, their 300-plus home visits encompassed drainage, structural repair, and basement waterproofing.

While the company only began operations in May 2021, its staff members have over seven years of hands-on fieldwork expertise. Our Denver-based employer is fully licensed and insured for general liability. Lott, the company's CEO, began his official sales professional life but began crawl space work on the side about five years ago. He eventually rose to the position of top employee at a big Charlotte company and has worked in over 1,400 crawl spaces around the state. This has resulted in a few strange encounters.

"You'd be surprised at what I see down there," Lott says. "I've seen a lot of snake skins." I climbed on top of the brown snake by accident. The most bizarre was when I discovered an old wallet including a social security number and card payments under a house. It ended up having five different owners."

Lott, a passionate disc golfer who also serves in the reserves of the United States Marine Corps, chose the ideal business partner in Dodge, a longtime buddy who finished his study at UNC Wilmington with a bachelor's in business administration and finance. Dodge, the company's chief officer, grew up helping his father with two family companies and worked previously as a director of operations for a hammocks store in Wilmington. Lott's proposal attracted his interest, he adds, because it provided him with flexibility and the opportunity to "make your own future."

Dodge adds, "I've done sales and handy labor for years, and I've always loved how you receive precisely whatever you put into it." If you do the right thing and treat people nicely, you will enjoy the benefits of your efforts."

Lott's firsthand knowledge and Dodge's business savvy have proved to be an ideal fit. DryWorx provides free inspections and is completely honest about the state of your property. Our technicians are just as glad to check that your basement space is in good shape as they are to provide a vital repair at a reasonable price. Preventative maintenance such as drainage, encapsulating, and waterproofing can save consumers a LOT of money. Repairing major crawl space damage might cost anywhere between $40,000 and $70,000. But, preventing those problems from occurring is a considerably less expensive and wiser approach.

“We’re not providing a want. We’re providing a need,” Lott says. “And it’s very rewarding."
